History Of Mozilla Project 

 

       In February 23, 1998 Mozilla frame work was created, with the release of network browser code. within a year new community memebers were added and enhanced new functionalists in this Netscape's next browser and within a less time this Mozilla project has developed to a largest company in the world.
        
     The commity members has started working with Netscape's next browsers and development tools.In 2002, the first version of Mozilla. i.e. 1.0 was released. Many improvements were made in this suite..but many of the clients were not using it because about 90% clients were using internet explorer. the first version of Phoenix (later renamed to Firefox)was also released in this year.
        
     In 2003, Mozilla project created the Mozilla foundation, an independent organization. In 2004, Firefox 1.0 was released, and became a big success. In less than a year, Firefox had been downloaded over 100 million times. The popularity of Firefox has helped to bring choice back to users. In 2008, world wide market share was about 20%. .
        
     In 2008, Mozilla celebrated its 10th anniversary. with in 10 years of this project, it showed many companies can get benefit by collaborating open source projects.

The Netscape's Problem

 

     In December 28, 2007 Netscape developers announced that due to low market share AOL would discontinue their web browser on February 1, 2008. Netscape's 4.x series of browsers had a poor support for CSS and no support for XML. It took Netscape over three years after the release of 4.0, to produce its next-generation browser.

Netscape Navigator 9 - Released in 2007.
Netscape 8 - Released in 2006.
Netscape 7 - Released in 2002.
Netscape 6 - Released in 2000. Support for CSS and XML.
Netscape 5 - Netscape skipped version 5.
Netscape Communicator 4 - Released in 1997.
Netscape Navigator 3 - Released in 1996.
Netscape Navigator 2 - Released in 1996.
Netscape 1 - Released in 1994.

      Firefox is a web browser which is faster and in some cases it is more secure than Netscape browser. Firefox first version was released in 2003 and became a big success. Firefox includes the features of other versions. 

   Firefox 2.0 was released in 2006 and the latest versions includes  features like
- quick link to google search engine
- A mail component like Thunder Bird
- Ability to use multiple tabs for search engine
- More streamlined user interface
- Improved and extended browsing
- RSS feed support
- Included new security features like anti-phishing protection
- Improved integrated search of multiple search engines
- Spell checking, session restore and "live titles."

     Thunder Bird is a free email application that is easy to setup and customize and it is included with extended features. Thunder Browser allows  to browse the web quickly and easily within all Thunderbird/Postbox/Spice bird email client, without having to load any other applications.


SeaMonkey

   SeaMonkey is the successful browser of the Netscape Communicator provide4d by the Mozilla Project. SeaMonkey released its new product SeaMonkey 2.0 on August 2013. SeaMonkey shared many of the new groups and emails from Mozilla Thunder Bird code. SeaMonkey project is to develop all-in-one concepts of SeaMonkey suite.
